A Scottish Lament at True Loss

I heard the news today – oh boy!

Ronnie Corbett led the tributes to his comedy partner Ronnie Barker today following the lag’s death at the age of 76.

The diminutive comedian (Wow-Politically Correct for once- well lets be honest Ronnie Corbett is a wee Edinburgh Bastard) described Barker, who died at yesterday after a long illness, as "pure gold in triplicate". The pair worked together for almost forty years and were Saturday Night fodder for weans on The Two Ronnies.

Comedy writer and broadcaster Barry Cryer, who worked with Barker for many years, described him to the BBC Online News as "a one-off". Cryer said: "I seriously put him in the same league as Alec Guinness or Peter Sellers. If he had gone into film he would have been enormous in films as well. (Sorry Barry, Calling him a “fat bastard after he died is a bit chickenshit).

As far as I’m concerned with Ronnie Barker you felt safe. The whole family could watch, granny, mum, aunties and the kids, while dads and uncles were in the Pub lamenting who got worked over at the fitba.

There will be a slight tear in the eye in Jakarta tonight……. ………

And it’s Goodnight from him
